This fabric is a 100% cotton yarn-dyed patchwork textile, characterized by its construction method in which cotton yarns are dyed before weaving, each plaid pattern is woven separately,
andthe finished sections are then cut and stitched together into a single piece of fabric.

Because the color is embedded in the yarn rather than printed afterward, the fabric has better color fastnessand a richer, more dimensional appearance.
The cotton composition provides breathability, moisture absorption, softness, and a comfortable yet slightly structured hand feel, making it suitablefor shirts, dresses, casual wear, and home textiles.

The term “Baijia cloth” in some Asian contexts refers to this type of traditional plaid-inspired patchwork fabric.
Its historical roots can betraced back to global plaid weaving traditions, including Scottish tartan, which historically symbolized clan identity and regional heritage, and Indian Madras plaid, known for its vibrant colorcombinations and lightweight cotton construction.

Through 19th-century trade and textile exchange, these plaid traditions spread widely and were later reinterpreted in East Asia, whereintentional patchwork techniques became both decorative and symbolic.
Originally, patchwork emerged as a practical method of joining leftover fabric pieces.
